Your Baby Can Read can be an early language development process for infants and small children. Based on the exploration of Dr. Robert Titzer, the DVDs employ whole reading and many phonics to help toddlers learn language patterns during an optimal time any time their brains are developing rapidly and therefore are intensely focused on buying language patterns.
According to Dr. Titzer, babies can learn the particular patterns of written language just as naturally and easily because they learn the patterns associated with spoken language. Often though, babies are not confronted with enough written language because of this learning to occur. The Your Baby Can Read! system contains five DVDs that are focused on helping babies and kids up to five years old discover how to read by giving them a multi-sensory experience with heavy exposure to print.
I've been seeing the infomercial for the Your Baby Can Read program and are very intrigued! But I'm never the kind to just jump for the phone and order everything that intrigues me. I did some quick research and have a look at some reviews - and also the result is mixed.
While it's great, and proven, that the children most often have positive results, "reading" words and recognizing what they are, but then I wonder if it is actual reading or just memorization. And even I have learned about The Hurried Child simply by David Elkin. I've never actually read the book, but I've learned in regards to the results/outcome of his book in several courses throughout my schooling, K-12 and Uni.
The Your Baby Can Read program is dependant on the fact that your infant uses associations to find out new things. It will show them what the word looks like, show them a picture in the word in action, and let the little one hear the sounds on the word in action too. So using the smells of sight and sound, your child is getting entertained by seeing every one of the pieces come together.
Ever wonder why kids can learn a brand new language MUCH faster than you are able to? Their brains are just geared to learning language much better than ours at that age group, and there's no cause to stifle that. My kids are capable to excel in their universities because we started at this kind of early age, and this makes fewer problems for me in wanting to help them with his or her homework.
I have seen the Your Baby Can Read infomercials numerous times, but I was anxious to apply it myself with my own toddler and pay attention to the results.
I must admit, the Early Learning Workshop DVD that accompany the program, which you are encouraged to view before beginning this program together with your child, is VERY overwhelming. It is long and unless you've got a great attention span (I really do not) you may well skip the DVD, read the Parents guide and get started.
